Mike Young Wofford Terriers Zipper Plays

Attached are two zipper set plays from Wofford Terriers head coach Mike Young. Before taking over as the head coach, Mike Young served as the assistant at Wofford from 1989-2002, and as the assistant at Radford for a year in 1988-1989. Young played at Emory and Henry, and after finishing his playing career he became an assistant at his alma mater for two years before moving on to Radford. Young has helped the Terriers in their transition from Division II to Division I, and has led the Terriers to 2 SoCon South Division Championships and 3 SoCon Tournament Championships.

1 passes to 2 then moves down to set a screen for 5 at the low post. 5 makes a zipper cut up the lane line and gets the pass from 2. Once 5 has the ball, he looks to shoot or can give a hand-off to 1 looping back around. Once 1 has the ball, 2 sets a screen away for 4. 1 looks to pass to 4 for a shot or to 2 slipping to the rim.

1 passes to 2 then moves down to set a screen for 5 at the low post. 5 makes a zipper cut up the lane line and gets the pass from 2. Once 5 has the ball, 3 loops around 5 for a hand-off. Once 3 has the ball, he looks for the same options as in Play #1 with 4 for a shot or 2 slipping to the rim.
