Another contributing factor to the blowout semifinal win was the defense of Real Madrid in the second half. FC Barcelona only scored 25 points in the second half of the game, and shot only 43% from the floor to Real Madrid’s 60%.
Pablo Laso Real Madrid Euroleague Offense – Play #1
In play 1, 5 screens down for 3 who cuts to the wing. 1 passes to 3 and 3 looks for a shot. If the shot isn’t open, 3 looks to pass to 5 posting up after the down screen. 1 screens down for 4 who cuts to the top of the key for a shot. If 4 and 5 aren’t open, 1 cuts to the corner off of a screen from 5. 3 passes to 1 in the corner for a shot. If 1 doesn’t have a shot, he dribbles up the wing and looks for a passing angle to 5 in the post.

In play 2, 1 dribbles up the left side of the floor as 4 moves underneath 5 to set up a double screen. 2 fakes a cut to the top of the key then makes a back-cut to the basket. 1 looks to make a pass to 2, but if he isn’t open he looks to pass to 4 curling off of 5. If 4 isn’t open, he continues his curl cut and screens down for 2. 1 dribbles across the floor as 5 moves out to the wing. 1 looks to pass to 2 for a shot or to 4 slipping off of the screen.

In play 3, Laso uses a horns set. 1 passes to 5 then cuts to the wing to get a quick pass back from 5. 3 and 2 move into the lane to set up for a screen. Once 1 has the ball back, 2 sets a cross screen for 3 who cuts to the opposite wing. 5 rolls to the short corner as 1 passes him the ball. 5 looks for a shot or drive to the basket. If 5 can’t score, he looks to pass to 4 on a back-cut or to 2 popping to the top of the key.
