Here are three set plays from Colorado Head Coach Tad Boyle. Boyle is entering his 6th season as head coach of the buffaloes and 10th season overall as a head coach. In 5 years in Boulder, CU has won 108 games and have had three NCAA Tournament appearances. Colorado also won the Pac-12 conference tournament in 2012. Before taking over in Boulder, Boyle was the head coach for Northern Colorado. During his time there, he turned around a program that won 4 games in 2006-2007 to a 2nd place finish in the Big Sky Conference winning 25 games in 2009-2010. Coach Boyle got his head coaching start at the high school level coaching for three seasons at Longmont High School in Colorado. From Longmont, he served as an assistant at Oregon, Tennessee, Jacksonville State, and Wichita State. Boyle played at the University of Kansas from 1981-1985 under Ted Owens and Larry Brown.

1 dribbles left as 5 and 4 screen for 2 and 3 on the blocks. 1 passes to 2 then cuts to the opposite corner. 5 looks to post up, but if he isn’t open 4 flashes high and gets the ball. 4 dribbles towards 3 and gives him the ball on a dribble hand-off. At the same time, 5 sets a flare-screen for 2 and 1 replaces 3 on the wing.

4 and 5 screen for 3 and 2 on the blocks. 1 passes to 2 then makes a shallow cut to the corner. 4 re-positions the screen and 3 cuts up the lane line to get the ball from 2. 5 looks to post up inside. Once 3 has the ball, he looks to pass to 5 at the basket or to 1 cutting up for a shot.

1 dribbles off of the ball-screen from 4. 4 rolls to the basket and 5 replaces 4. If 1 doesn’t have anything, he passes back to 5 at the top of the key. 5 dribbles left giving the ball to 3 on a dribble hand-off. At the same time, 2 moves in from the corner and looks to post up on the right block.
