Florida Gators Post Cross Play
Thanks to Nathan Martin for sending me this Post Cross play from Billy Donovan. The play starts in a 1-4 low formation giving the point guard the first option to score if he can get by his defender. If 1 doesn’t have anything, 2 and 3 will cross the baseline cutting off of screens from 4 and 5. 3 will go underneath 4 and 2 will go over the top of 5’s screen. 1 passes to 3 on the left wing then clears to the opposite corner.
4 sets a cross-screen for 5 who sprints directly into a wing ball-screen for 3. After screening, 4 steps away from the action creating space for the pick-and-roll. 3 drives middle as 5 rolls to the basket.
Nathan Martin started his coaching career at the age of 16 years old. When still in high school, He assisted in coaching the Jr high team (Christ Prep Academy) , helping with X’s and O’s, teaching defensive fundamentals, and running everyday practices. In his second year as a assistant, he helped turn a team who had won only 3 games the year before to a 10+ win season. He has also helped assist 3 different AAU teams during the summers of his high school years. Since graduation, Nathan is attending a JUCO college and planning on transferring to UMSL( University of Missouri-ST. Louis) to learn from head coach Bob Sundvold and his staff.
