David Arseneault Jr. Reno Big Horns Offense by Wes Kosel
Included in this playbook are two plays from NBA D-League Reno Big Horns head coach David Arseneault Jr. Arseneault just completed his first year as head coach of the Reno Big Horns in the NBA D-League. Before taking over for Reno, he served as an assistant coach under his father, David Arseneault Sr., at Division III Grinnell College. He also played for his father at Grinnell (2005-2009), and as a part of the Arseneault high-scoring offense he set a record for assists in a game with 34 in 2008. Once his playing career ended at Grinnell, he moved right into an assistant coaching role. Arseneault served 5 years as an assistant before making the jump to the D-League.
David Arseneault Jr. Reno Big Horns Offense – Back Screen Spread
1 passes the ball to 4 who passes to 2. 3 moves across the floor to the opposite corner. 5 then sets a back-screen for 4. 2 looks for 4 on the lob, but if he isn’t open he passes to 5 popping out. Once 5 has the ball, he dribbles towards 1 sending him into a back-cut. 5 looks to pass to 1 for the lay-up.

3 makes the first cut around 5 to the opposite block. 4 makes the second cut. 5 then turns to set a down screen for 1. 2 passes to 1 then cuts across the floor off of a screen from 5. 3 moves out to the corner. 5 then sets a down-screen for 4 who sprints straight into a ball-screen for 1. 1 looks to get a shot off of the pick-and-roll, pass to 4 rolling to the rim, or pass to 5 posting up inside.
