Scott Drew Stagger Action BLOB – Triple Stagger
The play starts in a box formation with the point guard taking the ball out of bounds. 2 moves first and runs toward 5 as if he is going to cut off of 5 to the wing. 2 instead turns and sets a screen for 3. 3 jabs and cuts around the triple staggered screen from 2, 5, and 4. 4 reads 3’s defender and steps accordingly to make sure he makes contact with 3’s defender. If the defender tries to play under the screen 4 may have to step down to make contact. If 3 isn’t open, he cuts across the lane to the opposite corner. If 3’s defender isn’t paying attention 3 can stop and post him up on the opposite block. 2 then uses the staggered screen from 5 and 4 to cut to the wing or corner. After 2 clears, 4 rolls to the basket and 5 steps out to the top of the key for a shot or an outlet pass.
