Doc Rivers LA Clippers Horns Set Plays – Horns Post Entry
In this post entry play, the point guard passes to 5 at the high post. Once 5 has the ball, 4 makes a hard cut to the rim looking for the direct pass for a lay-up or a lob pass for a dunk. Often Blake Griffin will be at the 4 spot and look to catch his defender sleeping. If 4 isn’t open, 1 screens for 2 in the corner. 2 cuts up off of the screen looking for a shot, but if he doesn’t have one he moves towards 5 to set a ball-screen. This little on big ball-screen can catch the defense in an unfamiliar situation. 5 drives middle as 2 rolls to the basket.
Doc Rivers LA Clippers Horns Set Plays – Horns 5-3 Repeat
This play is designed to get 3 open. 5 screens down for 3 in the corner as 3 curls around the screen looking for the pass from 1. If 3 isn’t open, he turns to cut off a second screen from 5. 1 looks to pass to 3 on the wing for a shot.
Doc Rivers LA Clippers Horns Set Plays – Horns Down-Wheel
In this play, 1 dribbles to the left wing then uses the staggered ball-screen from 5 and 4 to attack the middle of the floor. As 1 is dribbling towards the wing, 3 moves from the corner to the opposite low post. As 1 drives middle, 2 screens down for 3 and 5 sets a flare screen for 4. 1 looks to shoot, pass to 3 on the wing, or pass to 4 flaring to the opposite wing.
